Habitat for Humanity Status
Chairman Abbott reported that he had not seen anything appear at the ZBA for the two lots that
would be developed by Habitat. Mr. Johnson has indicated that Habitat was moving forward on
the lots and would likely report at the next meeting.
MAHPP Discussion
Chairman Abbott was unable to learn from Mr. Mayo whether or not the recommended changes
to Mashpee's Affordable Housing Plan had been received from the State. Mr. Isbitz stated that
one month ago,the plan was going to be mailed to the Town Manager. Mr. Isbitz indicated that
he would follow up with the State by phone while the Chair will follow up with Mr. Mayo, The
Chair suggested that Committee members review goals of the plans and report on the status of
the goals.
Main Street Village
Mr. McShane was expected to return with additional details regarding his project to add 6-8
units, 2 of which would be affordable, but the Chair has not heard anything further. Chairman
Abbott will follow up.
NEW BUSINESS
Affordable Housing Trust
The Chair stated that it was initially expected that the request to have 10% of CPC funds directed
to the Affordable Housing Trust appear on the May Town Meeting Warrant. The Town Manager
had indicated her intent to have a Warrant Article at the October Town Meeting, which could be
sponsored by the Affordable Housing Committee, but the Chair had not yet received the verbiage
needed for the Article. The Chair asked Mr. Mayo to follow up with the Town Manager, but will
inquire further. It was determined that a motion would appear at a future meeting in order to
show support for placing an Article on the Warrant.
Offer of Restoration of 5 Homes for Affordable Inventory
The Chair indicated that there were S homes owned by the Town that were not currently
habitable and he was awaiting more information regarding the location of the homes. Chairman
Abbott was aware of an individual interested in rehabilitating the homes to provide affordable
housing. The Chair has checked with a number of Town offices to learn more about the
properties but all were unfamiliar with the parcels. The contact has offered to follow up for more
information. The Chair thought that Habitat or HAC might be able to assist with identifying
residents for the homes.
EDUCATION/MARKETING
WAMPANOAG TRIBE UPDATE
Status of Housing Project
The Chair confirmed that roads had been installed and a locked gate installed.
