I Board oI Selectmen Minutes January 6, 200 APPOINTMENTS ANIS HEARINGS. I � VFW Post 5489—Hearin Selectman Leveille stepped down for the above referenced Hearing. Selectman Taylor opened the hearing on the reported VFW liquor license violation on Friday, December 13, 2002. The Mashpee Board of Selectmen, acting as the licensing authority for the Town of Mashpee have granted the VFW the opportunity to show cause as to why the All Alcohol Club License and/or Entertainment License of the Mashpee Veterans o Foreign war, Inc., d/b/a Mashpee Memorial VFW Post 5489, should be modified, suspended, revoked or cancelled. Complaints were received on the violation date of December 13, 2002 relative to a teem event Meld at the VFW. A noise'complaint was reported. Patrons were noted to be on the subject premise.until -:00 a.m. The license as stipulated for both liquor and entertainment is valid until 11:0 � p.m. for only VFW members and them guests. Correspondence was received from VFW Post President{Ted Theis dated January 3, 2003 with respect to this regard. Mr. Theis was unable to attend the Hearing due to a previous commitment. He detailed the VFW' mission to service the community, and indicated in his letter that steps have been taken to preclude the possibility of reoccurrence. Jesse Barry, Commander was present on behalf of the MashpeeVeteran's of Foreign wars to discuss this ratter with the Board of Selectmen and interested public. Alice gibbons, Manager was in attendance. Mr. Barry apologised for the recent.incident on behalf of the VFW and assured the Selectmen that this would not happen again. Mr. Barry indicated that his organization is obligated to perform certain community services and if the Selectmen were to deny the liquor license, it would severely impair their duties. It was noted that the VFW is scheduled to conduct their next board meeting on Tuesday, January 14, 2003. The matter would be respectfully addressed by the full VFW board at this tire. s
