i <br /> I <br /> 10 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 10, 2003 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Cemete Clear-Cuttin <br /> The Assistant Director of Public Works indicated that the front entrance t <br /> the cemetery site location was cleared of underbrush to increase visibility <br /> and to.assist with the police monitoring of vandalism. Underbrush was <br /> clear-cut and trees were selectively pruned to enhance the appearance o <br /> the area and allow adequate space for healthy trees to flourish. A total of <br /> eight blue spruce trees were planted in the natural area that was recently <br /> brush mowed by the Department of Public Works. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the naturally vegetative buffer that <br /> was a part of the original cemetery plan. Additional maintenance costs <br /> associated to brush ming were also considered. <br /> The Selectmen agreed Io invite the Cemetery Commission to attend a <br /> future Selectmen's fleeting to further review maintenance assumptions <br /> and project priorities for the completion of the new cemetery. <br /> DPW: <br /> Mr. Taylor, Director of Pylic Works was requested to remit to the <br /> Selectmen, and estimated cost of DPW labor for the following projects; <br /> land clearing behind Heritage Park,the preparation of Heritage Park ball <br /> fields, road clearing adjacent to the Town Hall facility, and the clearing of <br /> the cemetery as described for additional review. <br /> When asked of the parking lot behind the Fire Station, Mr. Taylor <br /> indicated that top course of pavement is budgeted in the Frank Hicks <br /> Drive extension road bond project. The project was earmarked as a <br /> separate line item in the FY03 DPW budget, but funding was not attained. <br />
