i I 10 Board of Selectmen Minutes February 10, 2003 APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: Cemete Clear-Cuttin The Assistant Director of Public Works indicated that the front entrance t the cemetery site location was cleared of underbrush to increase visibility and to.assist with the police monitoring of vandalism. Underbrush was clear-cut and trees were selectively pruned to enhance the appearance o the area and allow adequate space for healthy trees to flourish. A total of eight blue spruce trees were planted in the natural area that was recently brush mowed by the Department of Public Works. Discussion followed with respect to the naturally vegetative buffer that was a part of the original cemetery plan. Additional maintenance costs associated to brush ming were also considered. The Selectmen agreed Io invite the Cemetery Commission to attend a future Selectmen's fleeting to further review maintenance assumptions and project priorities for the completion of the new cemetery. DPW: Mr. Taylor, Director of Pylic Works was requested to remit to the Selectmen, and estimated cost of DPW labor for the following projects; land clearing behind Heritage Park,the preparation of Heritage Park ball fields, road clearing adjacent to the Town Hall facility, and the clearing of the cemetery as described for additional review. When asked of the parking lot behind the Fire Station, Mr. Taylor indicated that top course of pavement is budgeted in the Frank Hicks Drive extension road bond project. The project was earmarked as a separate line item in the FY03 DPW budget, but funding was not attained.
