Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 10', 2003 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> DPW Director; <br /> Request to Deficit Spend— Snow&Ice: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to place the above topic on the <br /> Selectmen's agenda. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimdus. -0. <br /> Greg Taylor, Director of Public Worts was present to recommend the <br /> Selectmen vote to allow the DPW Department to deficit spend for snow <br /> and ice removal. Presently, the annual budget of$116,000 has been <br /> expended and could exceed $200,000 in a time of heavy winter conditions. <br /> Mr. 'Taylor indicated that the department has encountered twenty-two <br /> snow and ice events and has plowed tree tines already this year. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to allow the DPW Department to <br /> deficit spend the snow and ice removal budget as requested under the <br /> provisions of Chapter 44 Section 44D. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VO Unanimous. -o. <br /> Transfer Station Bidding. <br /> The operation of the'Transfer Station and reasons to re-bid as 'Identified b <br /> the Assistant Director of Public Works were discussed. The Town has-the <br /> ability to extern the contract with Coastal Waste Management for year <br /> five prior to the re-bid process. <br /> It was noted that the Department of Public Works did not disclose their <br /> intention to not renew the fifth year of the contract with the Board of <br /> Selectmen. <br />
