Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 24, 2003 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> DPW Director: (continued) <br /> Emergency e irsl on uin Avenue: <br /> Mr. Taylor recommended the Selectmen approve the emergency repairs to <br /> Algonquin Avenue. Three large potholes on the road area pose a safety <br /> hazard, The Department of Nblic Worts can temporary patch the road <br /> areas to include a permanent patch for a sung not to exceed $1,000. 1t was <br /> noted that the road is in need of reconstruction, and the repair will not <br /> reduce the reed for fture road repairs. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to authorize emergency repairs t <br /> Algonquin Avenue as described for a sung not to exceed$1,000. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cabalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5- . <br /> The Selectmen agreed to schedule a Public Hearing on the Algonquin <br /> Avenue road issue. <br /> econ nendation for Appointment;'Tree Warden: <br /> In accordance with the.Town bylaw and collective bargaining unit, <br /> Appendix A, Mr. Taylor recommended the appointment of Errol Hicks to <br /> fill the vacant{Tree Warden position. The Selectmen previously voted not <br /> to make an appointment to the position. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the need for the position and related <br /> proactive issues and requirements for rnaintaini g public grounds. It was <br /> noted that the Tree Warden should be a licensed pesticide applicator to <br /> purchase products for the Town. Mr. Nicks is presently not licensed. <br />
