Gregg Fraser motioned to approve the Application for Agricultural Land Chapter <br /> 61A— Royce Baker: 501 Cotuit Road. Paul Andrews seconded the motion. <br /> VOTE: Yes-2 <br /> Roll Call Vote: Paul Andrews, yes; Gregg Fraser, yes <br /> Exemption Application for Agricultural Land Chapter 61A-- Chop Chaque Cranberries <br /> Inc.: Various Locations —The Director advised the Board that the applicant qualified for <br /> continued exemption under this Chapter. <br /> Gregg Fraser motioned to approve the Application fgr Agricultural Land Chapter <br /> 61A-- Chop Chaque Cranberries Inc.: Various Locations. Paul Andrews seconded <br /> the motion. <br /> VOTE: Yes-2 <br /> Roll Call Vote: Paul Andrews, yes; Gregg Fraser, yes <br /> Authorization for Director to engage in negotiations with Department of Revenue <br /> regarding the State Owned Land valuation appeal. —The Director informed the Board that <br /> there would be a non-binding mediation prior to trial of their appeal. The Appellate Tax Board <br /> strongly encourages both parties to reach a settlement if possible prior to going to trial. During <br /> the mediation any settlement agreement would become binding on both parties. <br /> Gregg Fraser motioned to authorize the Director of Assessing to engage in <br /> negotiations with the Department of Revenue for the purposes of possible <br /> settlement of the Board's State Owned Land appeal. Paul Andrews seconded the <br /> motion. <br /> VOTE: Yes-2 <br /> Roll Call Vote: Paul Andrews, yes; Gregg Fraser, yes <br /> Authorization for Director to hire an appraisal consultant and contract with the town's <br /> valuation consultant for additional services in defense of the State Owned Land appeal. <br /> —After discussion regarding the need for proper defense of the BOA's appeal of State Owned <br /> Land valuations by the Commissioner of Revenue; the Board agreed that appraisals of key <br /> properties owned by the state would be beneficial. <br /> Gregg Fraser motioned to authorize the hiring of an appraiser to conduct <br /> appraisals of selected State Owned Land Projects and other services as needed <br /> in defense of the appeal. Paul Andrews seconded the motion. <br /> VOTE: Yes-2 <br /> Roll Call Vote: Paul Andrews, yes; Gregg Fraser, yes <br /> Recommendation from Board of Assessors to Selectmen regarding Classification <br /> options for Fiscal Year 2098 —The Board discussed the pros and cons of a change to the <br /> residential factor and determined that it would have an undue negative impact on business <br /> growth especially considering that currently, less than 8% of taxable properties are <br /> commercial. <br /> - 3 - <br />
