Board of Selectmen
Minutes
November 3, 2003 i
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
Town Clerk---House I umberin Multi-Unit Corn lexes:
Deborah Dami, Town Clerk was present with George Baler, Fire Chief to
discussing addressing within Multi-Unit Complexes. It was noted that this
type of complex has grown in population over the years, and it has caused
an increased response time for ambulance and fire suppression services
due to illogical building identification systems.
The Town Clerk working with the Police, Fire, Town Planner and Post
Office is presently developing a basic procedure to identify buildings
within the multi-unit complexes.
The Planning board will hold public hearings to accept the names of the
streets within. After the names are accepted by the Planning Board, the
Town Clerk would work in conjunction with the Office of the Assessor,
and forward the change to the utility companies and Post Office. All
homeowners would receive a certified copy of the change via certified
mail.
The Director of Public works related concern with respect to naming
driveways that would take on the appearance of being a Town road. There
needs to be a distinction between a road berg private and a driveway
within a multi-unit complex. It was suggested that each complex would
sign-off acknowledging that these are driveways and not Town roads.
The Selectmen were in support of the project proposal as outlined.
OLD BUSINESS:
Request for Propals:
The Board of Selectmen reviewed two requests for proposal in response to
recent Town Meeting action. One is for the development of the
hotel/conference center on Town-owned land, the second is for the
Community Residence and Greenhouse also on Town-owned land.
Lotion made by Selectman Masters to approve the Request for
Proposals as referenced.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
