6:18- Paul C. Trane, et al trustees, 124 Surnmersea Road. Proposed demolition and
replacement of pier, ramp and float within same footprint.5- RDA
Resource Area: Ockway Bay, Land Under Ocean, Salt Marsh, LSCSF
Mark Burtis, Little River Docks, represented the applicant. He stated the proposed project
consists of removing existing 8 by 24 foot float dock and 3 by 16 foot gangway and remove
(4)4 inch pipe piling and replace in the same footprint with new aluminum gangway 3 by 16
feet, new conservation approved flotation dock 8 by 24 feet and (2) 8" by 25" diameter
pilings. There will be better sunlight penetration. There will be proper identification at the
end of the dock with the DEP license and address of the property.
The Agent noted this is the only plan available and because there is no change in the
footprint he recommended a negative determination.
No comment from the public
Motion: Mr. McKay moved a negative determination, seconded by Mr. Shaw. Vote
unanimous 4-0
6:21-Town of Mashpee, 664 Great Neck Road South. Proposed re mova I/rep lace ment of
two ramps and floats, relocation of one piling and construction of a new platform, walkway
and dinghy rack. NOI
Resource Area: Land Under Ocean, Coastal Bank, Salt Marsh, Land Subject to
Coastal Storm Flowage, BVW, Coastal Beach
Matt Costa, Cape and Island Engineering, represented the applicant. Also present
Catherine Laurent, DPW Director. Mr. Costa explained the proposed project consists of the
removal of two existing licensed ramps and floats, relocate one licensed pile, the
construction of 4'x 4' bituminous concrete pathway, 6'by6' timber platform, installation of
two prefabricated ramps, two prefabricated floats and the construction of a 7' by 20' dinghy
rack. The work to be performed is within the standards of the Mashpee Bylaws. He noted
signage will be posted at the site and the work limit will be marked. It has a Chapter 91
license. He noted people are walking over the salt marsh and people are storing their
dinghies. They are proposing site improvements. They are going to pave an approach to a
new ramp so that it will be seamless which will make the ramp handicap accessible. It will
be graded to have to prevent any water to run up on it. They are also proposing a 14 foot
aluminum ramp to a 6' by 6' timber platform which will be located above mean high water.
They will need to remove some native vegetation but will gain some salt marsh area back.
The platform will be elevated to a five foot clearance. The floats will be rebuilt
and they will relocate the furthest existing pile to the north northeast so the existing boat
ramp will be aligned. Both of the ramps will be constructed offsite. They will install a dingy
rack opposite the boat ramp which will give people clear access to the water so they will not
be traversing salt marsh. They will end up with an overall benefit to the site. They are
doing it with the current chapter 91 license. There is an open order of conditions on this
property and they have also filed the appropriate paperwork to close it out for work that was
done many years ago. He respectfully requested the commissioners issue an order of
conditions.
