The National Resources Conservation Service (MRCS) recently conducted a river
alignment feasibility study, and ground penetrating radar was use to map the river. Currently,
the results of the assessment relative to the ground penetrating radar are being reviewed.
Additional data is required to obtain cost assumptions associated to the realignment. Permitting
is also required and it may take up to eighteen months for approval. Wetland restoration is
anticipated to be included as a part of the permitting process. With additional data it is possible
the town will secure grant funding for the realignment and restoration of this project.
Farb Bog:
It was reported the Falmouth Rod & Gun Club has plans to purchase and restore the Farley Bog
and the upper portion of the Childs River. The 12-acre bog is jointly owned by the Town of
Mashpee and the Town of Falmouth. The Town of Mashpee owns a small portion of the
property along the river.
