Health to talk about enforcement. The response he received from the Board of Health Chairman
was she didn't even know the bylaw was approved one year earlier and Mr, Talbot asked if EOC
needs to rethink the enforcement issue. He sent an email to Mr. Gottlieb and the Town Manager
and gave them the background on the details.
Katelyn said she called BJs twice and they told her they weren't putting down fertilizer but were
putting down pre-emergent for crabgrass. Mr. Talbot said under the law companies are required
to carry their MSDS for any pesticide they are applying. Mr. Talbot said we need a mechanism
to get to these companies that are not a member of CCLA. He suggested we formulate a letter to
BJs requesting they give EOC the formula they use for the pre-emergent and how is it applied.
Mr. Talbot stated they send out information to all CCLA members at the beginning of the season
and at the end of the season so at least they are educating them but we have to look into the
bigger companies who are not members. He said the State has phosphorous fertilizer regulations
now, and his question to town counsel is could we include enforcement of the State phosphorous
regulations in our town bylaw.
Quashnet River Restoration/Realignment Project: Update
There will be a meeting on May 16.
OLD BUSINESS
Herring Run Monitoring/Conservation Department: Update
Katelyn Cadoret gave an update on the herring runs. She spoke about the low run at Mashpee
River and at Santuit, where the numbers are large but the herring are being held back by the
design of the ladder.
She will be working with AmeriCorps to construct the informational kiosks.
She is still working on the trail maps that will be distributed throughout the town, hopefully,
within the next couple of months.
She is working on the community gardens and out of 16 she has S rented out.
NEXT MEETING June 8,2016
ADJOURNMENT
Motion: Mr. McKay moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Katelyn Cadoret.
