[Agenda topic 3] Spring Newsletter <br /> Discussion: The newsletter is completed and has been sent to the town manager for approval. We are <br /> awaiting the OK from Mr. Collins, Town Manager, before posting on the town web site and having copies <br /> made to hand out near the sticker office. <br /> Conclusions: We are awaiting the Town Manager's approval of our newsletter which is completed. <br /> [Agenda topic 4]Lowell Holly <br /> Discussion: Diane Lang did not attend the meeting. Richard Baxter, caretaker for Mr. Goldberg who <br /> shares the road with Lowell Holly,reported that there has been traffic after hours parking near the gate, <br /> drug use and needles found in the area. Diane requests that anyone noticing people in the area after dark, <br /> call the police. The buoys have not been put out marking the swim area and on weekends boaters have <br /> been landing on the beach. <br /> Conclusions: Swim buoys have not been put out. Drug traffic is has been noted in the area. <br /> [Agenda topic 5] Koi in Johns Pond <br /> Discussion: Conservation held a fishing derby in Johns Pond in an attempt to catch the invasive Koi but <br /> none were caught. <br /> Conclusions: No Koi were caught during the fishing derby. <br /> (Agenda topic 6)Attaquin Beach Incident <br /> Discussion: On Saturday, June 4th the police were attempting to close the gate at 7:30 PM. A group of 30- <br /> 40 people were gathered in the panting lot cooking and playing basketball, and a Mr. Hicks Jr., who <br /> turned out to have a violent criminal history, was drinking in his car. The group refused to leave and Mr., <br /> Hicks became agitated. Even the Wampanoag elders, who encouraged them to leave were ignored. The <br /> police called for Barnstable and Sandwich back-up and eventually the crowd left and Mr. Hicks was taken <br /> into custody with use of the Taser. <br /> Conclusions: A disorderly man was arrested when a crowd would not leave the parking lot to allow the <br /> police to lock the gate. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 8:08 P.M. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Barbara B.
