[Agenda topic 3] Spring Newsletter Discussion: The newsletter is completed and has been sent to the town manager for approval. We are awaiting the OK from Mr. Collins, Town Manager, before posting on the town web site and having copies made to hand out near the sticker office. Conclusions: We are awaiting the Town Manager's approval of our newsletter which is completed. [Agenda topic 4]Lowell Holly Discussion: Diane Lang did not attend the meeting. Richard Baxter, caretaker for Mr. Goldberg who shares the road with Lowell Holly,reported that there has been traffic after hours parking near the gate, drug use and needles found in the area. Diane requests that anyone noticing people in the area after dark, call the police. The buoys have not been put out marking the swim area and on weekends boaters have been landing on the beach. Conclusions: Swim buoys have not been put out. Drug traffic is has been noted in the area. [Agenda topic 5] Koi in Johns Pond Discussion: Conservation held a fishing derby in Johns Pond in an attempt to catch the invasive Koi but none were caught. Conclusions: No Koi were caught during the fishing derby. (Agenda topic 6)Attaquin Beach Incident Discussion: On Saturday, June 4th the police were attempting to close the gate at 7:30 PM. A group of 30- 40 people were gathered in the panting lot cooking and playing basketball, and a Mr. Hicks Jr., who turned out to have a violent criminal history, was drinking in his car. The group refused to leave and Mr., Hicks became agitated. Even the Wampanoag elders, who encouraged them to leave were ignored. The police called for Barnstable and Sandwich back-up and eventually the crowd left and Mr. Hicks was taken into custody with use of the Taser. Conclusions: A disorderly man was arrested when a crowd would not leave the parking lot to allow the police to lock the gate. The meeting was adjourned at 8:08 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Barbara B.
