Katelyn asked if tarps could be put down on the plots in order to suffocate
the weeds as a first step, The Chair noted the weeds would have to be cut down first. Katelyn
noted no one is responsible at this time for the Community Gardens but she would check with
DPW to ask for their assistance. Shea Paxton suggested the garden should be set up so there
isn't a plot for just one person but run by a corps group of people. He suggested urban farming
and the food would then be distributed as a food co-op, There was a discussion on advertising
and maybe organizing a group of people who would manage the gardens. The Chair asked Shea
if he could submit a letter to the Board of Selectmen with a copy to EOC. It was also suggested
the town invest in more security for the gardens.
REPORTS
Conservation Department Report:
Land Stewards Program: Update
Katelyn said she will be making a Facebook page and will be working with the assistant tow
planner.
Interactive Trail Mapping: Update
Katelyn noted there is an Eagle Scout who is trying to make the Santuit Pond Recreation more
useable.
