MASHPEE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
MEETING MINUTES
MAY 10, 2017
OTHER BUSINESS
29 Riverside Road: Owner, Russell Spencer requests an informal discussion with the
Board regarding the recently approved Written Finding (Finding -2017-11).
Chairman Furbush announced that Mr. Bonvie was stepping down from this discussion,
and Mr. Gould was filling in.
Mr. Russ Spencer represented himself and said that he had been working on his project to
move the current cottage a couple feet away from the lot line and add on, but after working
with the builders and given the age of the cottage, it would not survive any construction.
He said he spoke with the Building Commissioner who suggested he have a discussion
with the Board that he would like to take down the #2 cottage, and rebuild it to code using
a lot of the same lumber, keep everything the same and in the same location and same
footprint. The building is not structurally sound to withstand the construction.
Mr. Blaisdell read the Inspection Department comments dated May 9, 2017 into the record;
"This office has no issue with what the applicant is proposing, due the construction
condition of the building. Both life safety and construction standards are a concern for this
office; so, this office supports the applicant's proposal with the following
recommendations:
1. That they do not change the approved foot print as was approved at the February 22,
2017 hearing.
2. That the outside appearance and the interior of the entire home complies with the pians
that were submitted at the February 22, 2017 hearing; which the ZBA had approved."
The Board confirmed with the applicant that he understood these conditions. Chairman
Furbush said he does not have any issues. Mr. Blaisdell has no issues, Mr. Goldstein, has
no issues, Mr. DeBarros has no issues, and Mr. Gould has no issues.
Approve -April 26, 2017 Meeting Minutes
Mr. Gould moved and made a motion to approve the April 26, 2017 meeting minutes.
Mr. DeBarros seconded, yes. Mr. Goldstein, yes. Mr. Furbush, yes, and Mr. Blaisdell,
yes. All were in favor.
Mr. DeBarros made a motion to adjourn. All were in favor and the meeting adjourned at
6:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted;
Mary Ann Romero,
Administrative Secretary
Zoning Board of Appeals
2
