j /Jff <br />E. <br />MASHPEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION Y - <br />MINUTES OF THE February 91h, 2016 MEETING <br />Chairman Ken Bates called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM at the Mashpee Town Hall <br />in the Popponesset Meeting Froom <br />Present: Ken Bates, Stanton Healy, Don MacDonald, Tim Leedham, Al Wickel, <br />Shellfish Warden Rick York, <br />Absent: Bill Taylor, Don Barton, <br />Minutes of the January 12th 2016 Meeting: Motion made by Don MacDonald to <br />approve minutes, 2nd by Tim Leedham, and unanimously approved. <br />Communications & Correspondence: Notice of payment by Save the Bay for the <br />4000 cu yards from the outer channel dredge work, sent to Town hall, <br />Harbormaster Report: Ken reported that he had been advised by the town that there <br />were about 20 applicants representing a very diversified group. <br />Shellfish Constable Report: Rick York reported that the posting of the water quality <br />technician position had resulted in 17 applications. He also mentioned the discovery of <br />a Coast Guard document from the late 1800's that showed water depths and locations <br />of oyster beds in and around Popponesset Bay. <br />Mashpee/Wakeby Management Committee: Don MacDonald reported that there was <br />nothing new to report <br />John's Pond: Discussions resumed regarding the alleged "enforcement "problems <br />("intrusion by mooring") which should be addressed by the new Harbormaster. <br />Communications with resident Mike Cannata were expected to continue with Don <br />Barton. All information gathered would be referred to the new Harbormaster for <br />resolution. <br />Popponesset Bay & Waquolt Bay: Rick York mentioned that there was very little <br />activity. Tim reported that there was very little ice left. <br />Water Quality: Don MacDonald mentioned that there are plans to email participants of <br />last year's program for general information for this year's activities. <br />Sewer: nothing new to report <br />Barnstable County CRC: Al Wickel reported on the January 28t� Barnstable County <br />Coastal Resource Committee meeting. Several topics discussed included storm -water <br />management, collaborative efforts between local municipalities and existing by-laws and <br />
