MINUTES OF MASHPEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION MEETING <br />MAY 10, 2016 <br />Chairman Bates called the meeting to order at 9:05 AM at the Mashpee Town Hall in <br />the Popponesset Meeting Room <br />Present: Don Barton, Ken Bates, Stanton Healy, Tim Needham, Don MacDonald, Bill <br />Taylor <br />Absent: Al Wickel <br />Also In Attendance: Shellfish Assistant Ashley Harrigan, DPW Director Catherine <br />Laurent, Acting Harbormaster Rick Santangelo, and Shellfish Warden Rick York <br />Minutes of April 12 2016 Meeting : Motion made by Don Barton to approve the minutes, <br />2"d by Don MacDonald and unanimously approved. <br />Appointments & Information Sessions: Nothing to report <br />Communications & Correspondence: Invoice for $117,000 received for dredging of <br />Popponesset approach channel. $65,000 to be paid by Town of Mashpee —balance to <br />be paid by Town via "Save Popponesset Bay" account.. Motion made by Don <br />MacDonald to approve subject to Ken Bates reviewing with Town Accountant before <br />giving to Town Manager. 2"d by Tim Needham and unanimously approved <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />Harbormaster Report: <br />• Final interviews for new Harbormaster have been completed. It was not known if a <br />selection of new Harbormaster had been made. <br />• Waquoit Bay markers being put in place "now" <br />• Popponesset Bay lost some "sticks" over the winter. Will need to scramble to get <br />markers in place. Will start after Waquoit is done. <br />• Rick Santangelo showed pictures of the boats used by the Harbormaster to carry out <br />responsibilities, stressing age and condition of each boat. He will be submitting an <br />article for the October Town meeting for a new boat costing in the "$90,000 range". <br />He asked for Waterways Commission backing of the article. No commitment made <br />by the Commission. <br />
