Mashpee Waterways Commission Meeting May 10, 2016 P.2 <br />Shellfish Constable Report: <br />• The creation of the Mashpee Department of Natural Resources requires approval by <br />the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of MA. Approval expected in 30-90 days <br />• Restoration of oyster beds approved by Conservation Commission <br />• All of Waquoit Bay open for shellfish harvesting as of May 1,2016 <br />• "Green crab" catch going well- caught crabs crushed for fish food <br />Committee Reports: <br />Mashpee Lakes: <br />Wakeby Pond: Need long arm excavator to pull back sand from landing <br />John's Pond: Two issues of concern, <br />Jet Skis- primarily an issue of high speed -Harbormaster issue? -is there a need for a <br />by-law covering speed of "special" watercraft less than "X" feet" on fresh water bodies of <br />water? No decisions or recommendations made. <br />"Transient Moorings"- discussion of various options to control transient moorings with no <br />decisions or recommendations made. Harbormaster issue? <br />Popponesset Bay „Area: Nothing to report <br />Wa uoit Bay Area: Nothing to report <br />Water Qualily Update/Water Sampling: Don MacDonald reported all dates and crews <br />set. Training session June 30th at Harbormaster docks. Sampling to start at 5:45AM on <br />July 6th <br />Barnstable--Counfy Coastal Resources Committee Update: Nothing to report <br />Sewer Committee Update: Nothing to report <br />Public Access Update: Catherine Laurent reported that: <br />• Ockway Bay work to be complete mid-June including placement of dingy racks. <br />• She will be soliciting proposals for Pirates' Cove work with goal of having work <br />completed by the end of the summer including a dingy rack <br />
