MINUTES OF MASHPEE WATERWAYS COMMISSION MEETING <br />July 12, 2016 <br />Chairman Bates called the meeting to order at 9:08AM at the Mashpee Town Hall in the <br />Popponesset Meeting Room <br />Present: Don Barton, Ken Bates, Stanton Healy, Tim Leedham, Don MacDonald, Bill <br />Taylor <br />Absent: Al Wickel <br />Also In Attendance: Town Manager Rodney Collins, Acting Harbormaster Rick <br />Santangelo <br />Minutes of June 14, 2016 Meeting: Motion made by Don MacDonald to approve the <br />minutes, 2nd by Don Barton,and unanimously approved. <br />Appointments & Information Sessions: Rodney announced the position of <br />Harbormaster had been filled by Alec "Al" Turner from Plymouth. Al will start as <br />Mashpee Harbor Master July 25,2016 <br />Communications _& Correspondence: Review of proposed October 2016 Town Meeting <br />articles. Motion made by Don MacDonald to accept articles as proposed, 2nd by Don <br />Barton and unanimously approved. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />Harbormaster Report: <br />• Complaints from residents on Johns Pond and MashpeeNVakeby Lake on size of <br />boats allowed. Limitations on size and horsepower of boats could only be <br />achieved by Mashpee and Sandwich petitioning MA Department of <br />Environmental Police. <br />• Lowell Holly Reservation is private property and has been closed to the public <br />because of parties, debris left by visitors etc. The motor entrance has been <br />closed and the Harbormaster asks boaters using the reservation to move. <br />It is unlikely the Reservation will be re -opened to the public. <br />
