Mashpee Waterways Commission <br />Mashpee Town Hall, Mashpee, MA <br />Minutes of the December 13, 2016 Meeting <br />Chairman Bates called the meeting to order at 9:02 AM at the Mashpee Town Hall in the Popponesset <br />Meeting Room <br />Present: Don Barton, Ken Bates, Tim Leedham, Bill Taylor, Stan Healy, Don McDonald, <br />Absent: Al Wickel <br />Also in attendance: Ashley Harrigan representing Harbormaster Alec Turner, and DPW Director <br />Catherine Laurent <br />Minutes of the October 12th Meeting: Motion made by Don Barton to approve the minutes, 2nd Stan <br />Healy and unanimously approved. <br />Communications & Correspondence - In follow up to previous meeting discussion on "slow, no wake" <br />signage on Great River and at the ramp, Ken Bates forwarded email for coordination to the Town <br />concerning the option for private dock owners to sign a MDU for no wake signage which would then <br />permit enforcement. <br />Also Ken noted that the Commission meeting schedule for 2017 had been forwarded to the Town Clerk <br />to assure booking for Popponesset Meeting room. In addition, Stan mentioned that the Town website <br />for MWC membership was not up to date and required updating. <br />Old: Business: <br />Harbor Master Report - Ashley Harrigan, Shellfish and Water Quality Technician, gave report for the <br />Harbormaster. Ashley indicated that the Harbormaster and assistant were attending inservice training. <br />She reported that recent efforts were focused on securing the equipment and work boats for winter <br />storage. One work boat was still in operation. Other activities included replacing dock and waiting on <br />the ramp installation. Ken also highlighted the temporary shutdown of the Great River Ramp for <br />construction and any necessary coordination required to facilitate the project. <br />Ken also mentioned a project review for the new channel in Waquoit Bay that will be coordinated with <br />Falmouth. There are some questions concerning the previous dredging activity in this stretch of the <br />Bay. Ashley volunteered to email to Ken some stored Coast Guard information that might be useful. <br />Shellfish Report - Ashley gave her report. From the end of November into the month of December <br />the staff has been working on seeding the Town's oyster family area. The remainder of oyster stock <br />from 2015 and 2016 will be moved from the Mashpee River to the family area throughout the month of <br />
