MASUPEE AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMMITTEE MINUTES <br />April 5, 2005 <br />Present: John Cahalane, 'sella Elizenberry, Alice Lopez, Eric Smith, Louise Patrick, Julius Rosales <br />and Trudi Ide. <br />Absent: Deborah Battles, Jamie Regan. <br />Audience: Don Dickerson, Habitat for Humanity <br />John Payone, Habitat for Humanity <br />Leila Botsford, Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust <br />Stuart Peoples, Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust <br />Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m. <br />Approval of Minutes ... Trudi motioned to accept the minutes of January 4, 2005 and the Informal Notes of <br />February 1, 2005; Louise seconded the motion; and the motion was carried. <br />Presentation by Habitat for Humanity <br />Don Dickerson made a presentation requesting continued support from the Affordable Housing Committee <br />for Article 21 on the Town Warrant. <br />Habitat is looking to build additional housing units at: <br />0 562 Cotuit Road - 3 -bedroom ranch on 12,500 square feet. This is an empty parcel between <br />existing single-family hornes. All utilities available. Will need a septic system. <br />0 59 Quashnet Road - small cape or ranch on 7500 square feet. Parcel is flat, has utilities, and will <br />need septic. Requires friendly comprehensive permit under Section 40B due to lots small size. <br />As a Mashpee resident, John Payone will attend Town meeting and will be available to answer any <br />questions. <br />Question: Committee asked if Habitat for Humanity ever rehabs existing structures. <br />Response: Habitat does rehab existing structures; however, very few ever become available. Contractor's <br />usually purchase property, tear down structure, and rebuild. <br />Louise made a motion for the Affordable Housing Committee to support Article 21 at Town meeting; <br />Alice seconded the motion; and the motion was carried with unanimous approval. <br />Ac6oi-i 9 Letter will be sent to the Habitat for Humanity expressing support from the <br />Affordable Housing Committee. <br />Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust <br />Leila Botsford, member of the Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust, was available to request support from <br />the, Affordable Housing Committee, The Trust received a parcel of land; however, it had several title <br />issues. The Trust is asking the Town of Mashpee to retake the property to obtain a clear title. Leila <br />realizes this make take some time; however, the Trust would like to request support fi-om the Committee to <br />expedite the title process from the Town. <br />
