Habitat for Humanity ZBA Meeting
Chairman Abbott referenced the meeting regarding Habitat for Humanity and expressed concern
about their presentation. It was reported that the agreement came with conditions regarding the
dirt Strawberry Lane and there was question regarding whether it was a driveway or a roadway.
The conditions would need to be met prior to being able to build the property. The Chair noted
that there, remained a number of parcels of land still available in Mashpee that could be utilized
for Habitat and indicated that there was a resident interested in assisting with building a home.
NEW BUSINESS
Mashpee Affordable Housing Production Plan
The Chair announced that he learned from Habitat for Humanity that the Production Plan had
never been approved by the State. Chairman Abbott has attempted to contact the State for more
information as Mr. Fudala was unable to clarify the status of the Plan. Mr. Isbitz indicated that
he would inquire further with DHCD and noted that town zoning could be overridden without a
housing plan on file with the State.
Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust
Chairman Abbott reported that there would be an Article at May Town Meeting regarding the
funding for the Affordable Housing Trust. Funds from the CPC and the Cape Cod Commission
would be distributed to the Trust and then able to be disbursed by the Trust. There was
discussion regarding funds that had been distributed to the Mashpee Housing Authority from the
Cape Cod Commission. There was discussion regarding the differences of the Mashpee
Affordable Housing Trust to Trusts in other communities, including the composition of the Trust
as well as access to funds. The Chair stated that support for the Article would be helpful for the
future development of affordable housing.
Discussion of New Affordable Units
Mashpee Commons 12-15 (2 foundations in)
Habitat for Humanity 2 (2015)
Wampanoag Tribe 54 (Tribal only)
209 Old Barnstable/950 Falmouth Rd. possible 51 max units
EDUCATIONIMARKE TING
Cape Housing Forum
Chairman Abbott indicated that the PSAs would be one minute each and they would be willing
to develop a PSA about affordable housing, though a script would need to be developed.
WAMPANOAG TRIBE UPDATE
No update at this time
NEWS
CORRESPONDENCE
2
