Capital Improvement Program Committee <br />Minutes <br />February 5, 2015 <br />SCHOOL DEPARTMENT: <br />Wireless - $30,000 <br />Core Switch Replacement -__$50,,000 <br />Sean Maroney, the School's Network Administrator was in attendance to discuss <br />capital needs of the School Department in fiscal year 2016. Mr. Maloney <br />requested the continued funding of wireless improvements at a cost of $30,000. <br />To date, the project is 55% complete. <br />It was noted that 40 access points have been installed at the Middle/High School, <br />and 23 installed at the Quashnet School. Mr. Maroney indicated there is a need <br />for reliable wireless coverage in the schools for education, and for use by the <br />Recreation Department. <br />Included in the capital request was funding in the amount of $50,000 for the core <br />network switch replacement. The equipment is now 10 -years old, and it is <br />difficult to locate parts. A 3 -Year replacement plan is proposed to replace the <br />aging connections to standard. <br />DISCUSSION RE: CIP APPROPRIATIONS FOR FY2016: <br />A brief discussion followed with regards to the Capital Improvement Program for <br />fiscal year 2016, and the possible use of MCAT funding for technology <br />improvements.
