4
Capital Improvement Program Committee
Minutes
February 5, 2015
PLANNING & CONSTRUCTION: (continued)
DPW Storage Facility - $500,000 (previous estimate)
DPW Storage Building_
With the lack of an appropriate facility to house the DPW vehicles and equipment
exposed to the variety of weather conditions, the CIP Committee re -visited the
ongoing request of DPW to construct an onsite storage facility.
Previously, the DPW proposed to construct a 50'x100' metal building, unheated
to house vehicles and equipment. The projected cost was $100,000 for the
building and it was determined the use of Chapter 90 funds is permissible for this
type of expenditure.
Included in the $500,000 budget request was a vehicle wash facility, parking lot
improvements, site resurfacing and drainage updates. It was noted that all
departments would have the ability to beneficially clean their vehicles at the DPW
location.
Ms. Laurent was requested to obtain updated cost estimates for this project.
DEPAR'T'MENT OF PUBLIC WORKS:
Town Hall Vehicle Fleet:
It was suggested the Capital Improvement Committee consider the upgrade of
vehicles to add to the Town Hall fleet of vehicles. It was noted that most of the
Town Hall vehicles are repurposed vehicles previously used by other
departments.
A lease purchase program was considered to replace 3 vehicles, and at minimum,
the CIP was requested to consider the purchase of 1 pickup truck with a plow for
shared use with the DPW. It was noted the Town fleet is managed by the DPW,
and two new positions are presently being considered.
