Botsford is not requesting an increase in salary, the schedule does indicate that the state should
be paying more than they currently are in her salary proration. Budget guidelines do not allow
exemptions for this, however, since Mashpee has such a large MRVP program that does not pick
up its fair share of all expenses, we have decided to request an exemption and submit a letter
explaining why. We are not looking for the complete amount that the salary schedule shows they
should be paying, so hopefully they will agree to the exemption. If they do not, they will simply
deny it and revert the budget for the change. Mr. Joy went on to review the 4001 and then the
MRVP budgets in detail and asked if there were any questions. There being none, a motion
was made by Jill Allen and seconded by Kevin Shackett to approve and submit the
4001 budget for Fiscal Year 2016 as presented. The motion was adopted and roll call
vote was taken as follows:
YES No
Jill Allen
Kevin Shackett
Richard Halpern
Melissa Phillips
Fran Laporte
A motion was made by Kevin Shackett and seconded by Melissa Phillips to approve
and submit the MRVP budget for Fiscal Year 2016 as presented. She explained that there were residents on Breezy Way
that were having fire pit -type open flames, and there was great concern for health, safety, and
liability. A discussion ensued and it was suggested that Mrs. Botsford investigate what the town
requires for such things. Mrs. Botsford stated that we could consider disallowing anything other
than grills, if the board so chooses to. Mrs. Botsford expressed concern for liability issues, and
board members agreed. A motion was made by Jill Allen and seconded by Kevin
Shackett to table this item to next month, pending more information on town
requirements, insurance, and liability.
OTHER BUSINESS: none
COMMUNICATIONS/CORRESPONDENCE: Mrs. Botsford had distributed a letter from South Coastal
Counties Legal Services, Inc. regarding a Miss Ebony Gunn who is seeking an appeal hearing from the
Board of Commissioners regarding the termination of her assistance on the Project Based MRVP.
