Another program <br />sponsored by the government, Mature Workers Program, offers minimum wages with a required 20 - <br />hour work -week. <br />• Coordinator's Report — Highlights <br />- HOARDING TASK FORCE Meeting January 20th: Gail Wilson attended. The Falmouth Hoarding <br />Task Force is holding a community forum "Buried in Treasures" on February 26th from 2 to 4 PM at <br />the Falmouth Public Library offering help for compulsive acquiring, saving and hoarding. <br />- WE CAN OUTREACH: Gail Wilson has been in touch with Outreach worker Karen Ryan who <br />currently is based in Harwich, but wants very much to have more of a presence on the Upper Cape. <br />The organization is holding 30 -minute legal consults at the Falmouth Service Center the 3`d Tuesday <br />of the month beginning in January 2015. WE CAN works with women in transition in their lives, <br />empowering women to achieve positive change. <br />- Mass. Opioid Abuse Prevention Collaborative Program (MOAPC). Gail Wilson plans to <br />attend the first meeting of the Barnstable County MOAPC scheduled for March 2, 2015, and will give <br />a full report of the meeting at the next Human Services Committee meeting on March 19, 2015. <br />- Cape & Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition: the coalition is sponsoring a QPR: Question, <br />Persuade, Refer training on April 8, 2015 at the Mashpee Public Library. This will have a Human <br />Service/Mashpee focus and is open to the public. QPR teaches how to recognize a mental health <br />emergency and how to get a person -at -risk connected to the help they need. <br />- Human Services Assistants: Gail Wilson reported that she now has three Senior assistants who <br />are participating in the Town of Mashpee Tax Work -Off Program: <br />Ellen, assisting with administrative tasks <br />Alice, assisting with filing <br />Alex, who keeps track of the agency contracts on a Human Services computer program <br />- Ongoing Issues. Gail Wilson stated that ongoing issues included clients struggling with mental <br />illness and substance abuse; a lack of affordable housing; and individuals coming out of prison who <br />are finding it hard to find employment and make this transition. <br />NEXT MEETING <br />The next meeting of the Human Services Committee was scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2015 <br />at Mashpee Town Hall, 2:00 PM. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:15 PM. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />2 <br />
