[Agenda topic 3] Harbormaster Report
Discussion: Rick Santangelo reported more harbormaster presence on the lake this year and more citations
written. He said all boating and swim markers were out for the season. Safety inspections were increased
and done before launching at the ramp. One boating accident occurred and there were no injuries. One
boat following too closely, which was cited, nearly ran up on top of the other causing some damage to one
back corner of the lead boat.
The Harbormaster position remains open. The committee hopes it will be filled sooner than later so that
coverage and training can begin earlier next spring. This year, it was August before assistants completed
training. Discussion was held regarding moorings and whether a separate mooring cost and requirements
could be written for non- motorized boats and jet skiis. Some felt it would be better to have a reduced fee
and better compliance from the public. Rick will discuss this with the new harbormaster when he or she is
hired.
Conclusions: The 2015 boating season is over. The Harbormaster's position needs to be filled long before
the 2016 season begins to allow a competent trained staff before next season.
[Agenda topic 4] Fall Newsletter .
Discussion: Only a half -page of the newsletter needs to be completed. Barbara updated a couple of articles
to reflect passing of bylaws at the Town meeting. It will then need to be sent to the Town Manager for
approval. Brian may have winter safety instructions.
Conclusions: Barbara will complete the newsletter, get approval, and get it printed.
[Agenda topic 5] Recreation Report/ Ramp Use
Discussion: Andrew Gottlieb emailed a report he had received from. Mazy Bradbury, beginning in August
which broke down the ramp use by hour and type of boat: motorized, sail/kayak or jet ski. We noted more
motorized boats in the earlier hours and jet ski use later in the day. More explanation is needed to
determine how this information might be helpful.
Conclusions: The report on ramp use was reviewed.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:23 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara B. Nichols
