Mashpee Waterways Commission <br /> Minutes of the July 14th,2015 Meeting <br /> Chairman Ken Bates called the meeting to order at 9:07 AM at the Mashpee Town Hall in the Ockway <br /> Meeting Room. <br /> Present: Bill Taylor, Don Barton,,Ken Bates,Tim Leedham, Don McDonald <br /> Absent: Al Wickel,Stan Healy <br /> Also Present: Stephen Mane, Harbor master and Rick York,Shellfish Warden <br /> Motion was made by Don McDonald,2nd by Don Barton and unanimously approved to accept minutes <br /> as corrected for the June 9th, 2015 Waterways Commission meeting. <br /> Communications and Correspondence: <br /> Received prior notification of the Sewer Commission meeting on July 14th where the Waste Water Plan <br /> will be presented to the CCC and MEPA officials for review and comment. <br /> Contract for the renewal of the UMass Water Quality Testing Program was signed and forwarded. <br /> Harbormaster Report: <br /> Stephen Mone announced to this Committee that he has resigned as Harbormaster effective August 1st. <br /> He had provided notice to the town the day before. Stephen has accepted a new position as the Town <br /> of Situate Harbormaster. Committee members thanked him for his service and wished him the best fn <br /> his new assignment. <br /> He reported that two more channel lights will be installed in Waquoit Bay,five in Little River and Great <br /> River and nine lighted markers in Popponesset Bay and 1916 Channel. <br /> Other updates:Stephen has hired 3 assistants recently to augment his staff. New mid channel marker$ <br /> are being installed in Popponesset Bay.A new pump out boat with 450 gallons of capacity is expected to <br /> arrive shortly. The Carolina Skiff boat has been rigged out with a new davit,adding new capability. <br /> Steve also noted that 38 graduates had completed the Safety Boating Course which was gratifying. <br /> Tim Leedham asked Steve if he could prepare a checklist of recommendation for outstanding projects, <br /> prior his departure. <br /> Shellfish Constable Report: Rick reported that the shellfish propagation efforts are in full swing. Two <br /> million quahog seeds are in Little River station and 2000 oyster bags in the Mashpee River and <br /> Shoestring Bay. Rick reported that another marine biologist has been hired. Rick gave praise and credit <br />
