Catherine provided 2 lists—those condos with
containerized collections, and those condos with curbside collection. Catherine pointed
out that while condos do not use the Transfer Station for trash, they may use for
recycling.
Invite others to Committee meeting who align with our concerns. This is still to be done. Wayne
BevAcqua provided a copy of an email he received from Norman Doucette,Recycling
Coordinator,Winchester. Wayne said they are doing pay-as-you-throw and sticker pilot program
thereby giving residents a choice. Catherine is to look at this program, how the two waste
streams are separated, and ask what trash reduction/cost savings Winchester has seen in the one
year. Richard Elrick said Plymouth doing both curbside and Transfer station. Kalliope Egloff
said Plymouth very large;more beneficial to look at other towns comparable to Mashpee...for
instance Harwich is about 14,000 population.
Wayne BevAcqua said we should also invite Jeff Cabral from Winchester. Apparently the only
complaint Winchester has is the bags, so we should ask him why.
