4 <br /> TOWN MANAGER SCREENING COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> TUESDAY,MARCH 3,2015 <br /> OCKWAY MEETING ROOM <br /> Present: Chris Avis (arrived 6:40 p.m.),Jerry Carter,Andrew Gottlieb,Kathleen Moore,and <br /> Carol Sherman. <br /> Audience; Sam Houghton—Mashpee Enterprise <br /> Chairman Andrew Gottlieb called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> Carol Sherman motioned to accept the minutes of the February 24,2015 Regular Meeting;Jerry <br /> Carter seconded the motion. <br /> VOTE: Yes-4. <br /> Roll Call Vote: Jerry Carter,yes Carol Sherman,yes <br /> Kathleen Moore,yes Andrew Gottlieb,yes <br /> Executive Search Firms <br /> The following 3 search firms agreed to participate in this meeting: <br /> • The Executive Suite,Hyannis,MA. Warren Rutherford was in attendance at the meeting; <br /> • Collins Center,UMASS,Boston,MA. Richard Kobayashi participated via conference <br /> call; and <br /> • Municipal Resources,Meredith,NH. Alan Gould also participated via conference call. <br /> Services discussed were as provided in the scope of services each had presented in written form <br /> and basically the 3 firms would post the position at least in the MMA Beacon(possibly only on- <br /> line);ICMA Newsletter; websites;and other regional publications. All would do screening of <br /> candidates,including background checks, and would work with the Screening Committee during <br /> the interview process. <br /> The Committee emphasized to each of the firms the importance of the timing and the need to <br /> accomplish securing 3 to 5 candidates in the 90-day timeframe. Also,the firms were asked <br /> whether it would be unrealistic to ask Town Manager to reside in Mashpee. Some of the <br /> highlights mentioned: <br /> The Executive Suite <br /> • Include in profile what Town facing over next 5+years. <br /> • They network with individuals who are not seeking a position. <br /> • Develop profile for next 10-15 years. <br /> • Absolutely do site visit at host community of"finalist"candidate(s). <br /> • 1-year guarantee. <br /> Timing: <br /> • 1-112 to 2 hours of time to meet. <br /> • 1 week's time to develop profile; review; and post. <br /> • Open application period=30 days posting. <br /> • Within 45-50 days candidate presented to Screening Committee. <br /> Residency: Depends on housing cost;depends on commute; some candidates don't want to be <br /> part of the community"fishbowl". <br />
