Executive Search Firms(continued)
Collins Center UMASS
• Collins has had consistent, good outcome with search methodology they use.
+ Important consultant understands person Town seeking to work well in Mashpce
environment.
• Important to put emphasis on developing profile.
• Collins can reach out to people in the field—sometimes best person for the job isn't job
hunting. This ensures you don't have to pick the best from"mediocre"pool.
• Collins prepares script for Screening Committee interviews.
Timing:
+ 1 month profile
• 1 month recruiting
+ 1 month interviews/reference checks and then Screening Committee interviews finalists.
• Mr. Kobayashi's colleague could meet March 23 to work on the profile.
• Mr.Kobayashi said each month schedule could be tightened.
Residency: Mashpee is an attractive location;believe offer is good money; and person leaving
position was there a long time.
Municipal Resources,Tnc_
+ Electronic survey for Town could be made available.
E-mail address for anyone to provide input could be available in town
• Help guide 12-16 candidates to Screening Committee. Get down to 5 candidates to meet
with Screening Committee.
+ MRI has good network in the field so they generate leads.
Timing:
• 90-day timetable—start to finish.
+ Draft ad for review and get posted=30 days.
• Meet with Screening Committee and adopt profile to help interview applicants.
• 7-10 days for candidates to do resume essay. Essay is particular to community—
challenges they have to face.
• Do screening; then do interviews.
• If contract reached this week,MRI would come next week and review ad with Screening
Committee at that time.
Residency: That's a challenge...one more thing to deal with. Mashpee is a place where
somebody wants to go and stay. Salary range is very much in line,
CONCLUSION
Consensus was reached by the Screening Committee that Kathleen Moore should contact Collins
and MRI.
• Inform Collins that the,Screening Committee is not comfortable waiting until March 23
to meet and ask if there is any way they can address the timing concerns.
+ Ask both Collins and MRI to draft a contract proposal and come to review their draft
contract proposal with the Screening Committee at the March 10 meeting at Town Hall.
The contract draft should meet the 90-day timeframe; should identify services that are
particular to Mashpee; and should price the steps out for us and tell us break points and
how they price out.
• If Collins cannot meet timing needs, then Kathleen should only request contract proposal
from MRI.
2
