4
projects. PACE is attempting to establish a Cape-wide ad hoc committee to mount a letter
writing campaign to incorporate visitability in the State building code.
Trish reported the Planning and Construction Committee reviewed architect's plans for the new
fire station in South Mashpee. Site testing has begun to for septic system location and
requirements. In addition to the estimated$2 million cost of the project,at least an additional
$45,000 may be required to bring town water to the site. Other issues that need to be resolved
prior to approval include the possibility of some protected species in the natural resources
reservation and the possibility of ancient remains buried in the vicinity.
Trish also reported the grant money for the library construction project remains in legislative
limbo. Mashpee is still second on the list but the Legislature has yet to allocate the funds for the
grants. If the grant money is not forthcoming in the next couple months, a decision to begin
construction of a scaled back project will have to be considered.
The Mashpee Community Concert Committee was invited via a letter of July 2,2007,to attend
this meeting to discuss handicapped parking and access at Mashpee Night at the Pops. No one
from the Concert Committee attended the meeting. Furthermore,we have not heard from anyone
from the Concert Committee even though a point of contact was identified in the letter. At this
point, access arrangements for the performance are unknown. Bob will advise Terrie of the
situation and seek her advice for what steps can/should be taken.
The meeting adjourned at 3:20 PM. The next meeting is scheduled for August 9,2007.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert ooldridge
Secretary
