All voted unanimously.
AGENDA TI`EMS
Welcome
Ms. Farren welcomed Selectman Carol Sherman to the meeting and emphasized the need for
increased membership. Selectman Sherman questioned ways to promote Committee
membership and Ms. Farren suggested continued advertising and discussion of the work of the
Committee with others. Selectman Sherman suggested that she may know of some people
interested after the start of the New Year.
OLD BUSINESS
Annual Pow Wow-Feedback from Kay Brown
Ms. Brown attended the event with George Spivey, the Falmouth Equity Officer and Chair of No
Place for Hate in Falmouth. Most individuals were unaware of the Committee
and showed little interest.
Chalk 1 Up for Diversity-Feedback from Kay Brown
Ms. Brown also attended the South Shore Coalition's meeting at a synagogue in Hingham. Ms.
Brown found it interesting to meet others working on issues of diversity. Discussion at the
meeting included details about an upcoming event in Plymouth. Committee members discussed
the success of the South Shore Coalition as well as the establishment of the Cape Cod Coalition
which had anticipated holding a fall meeting. Ms. Farren added that the joint meetings allow an
excellent opportunity to network and to learn more about the activities of other communities.
Ms. Farren will follow up with the ADL to find out if additional meetings are planned.
NEW BUSINESS
Conflict of Interest Summary
Committee members are required to sign and submit the receipt of the Conflict of Interest
Summary.
