Ms. Vaughn added that other academic departments at the school will also contribute throughout the week <br /> such as with an English essay or math equation. Donated desserts and soups will be available each day <br /> for purchase during lunch and the proceeds will be provided to a homeless organization. A schedule of <br /> events will be provided to parents and Ms. Wray recommended that the schedule be printed in the <br /> Enterprise. It was also noted that the information would appear in tile school newspaper and on Channel <br /> 21 <br /> Ms. Brown indicated that she could attend the event and Ms. Farrell stated that she would contact George <br /> Spivey as a possible speaker, Ms. Farrell will extend invitations to attend the event to such individuals as <br /> the Selectmen, Gail Wilson and Jackie Fields. <br /> No Name Calling Day <br /> No Name Calling Day will take place oil January 26 at the Quashnet School. Ms. Farren will send the <br /> banner and other materials from the ADL. Diversity pamphlets have been ordered. <br /> DISCUSSION ITEMS <br /> Mashpee Cares <br /> Ms, Vaughn announced that there was a meeting of community people who were interested in gathering <br /> to address young adult issues. Ms. Vaughn reported that 50 people attended the meeting and suggested <br /> that the Affirmative Action Committee could become involved. Issues discussed included bullying, <br /> suicide prevention, parent/community involvement and s"education, Ms. Vaughn will find out more <br /> information about how the Committee can get involved with the group. It was suggested that the group <br /> may also provide an opportunity to recruit additional Affirmative Action members. <br /> Next Meeting <br /> It was determined that the January 25"' meeting would be canceled. Ms. Farrell will provide updates by <br /> email. <br /> Student Project <br /> Ms. Vaughn has not heard back from Senior Project Teachers, whether there were students interested in <br /> pursuing an affirmative action related project. Ms. Vaughn indicated that the students are still <br /> formulating their projects. Ms. Vaughn will follow up for more information and inquire about having a <br /> student sit on the Affirmative Action Committee, Ms. Farrell will email Celeste Reynolds to inquire <br /> further. <br /> Meeting Adjournment <br /> The meeting closed at 5:40 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Jennifer M.
