Ms. Botsford stated that the Mashpee Housing Authority 'is considered small with less than Soo units <br /> and the staff consists of Ms. Botsford, a full time maintenance superintendent, a part time custodian <br /> and two part time i n i strati vc assistants. <br /> Mr. Trebat offered the support of the Committee to Ms. Botsford as needed. Mr. Abbott questioned <br /> the availability ofthe units set aside for the disabled at Homeyer and Ms. Botsford responded that the <br /> units were occupied and that the waiting list had been closed since it was estimated to be a 10 year <br /> wait. Mr. Johnson questioned whether or not affordable housing was available for recipients ready to <br /> move to the next level. Ms. Botsford responded that income guidelines were high for public housing <br /> and that typically residents would move to their own home or into multi-generational housing. Ms. <br /> Botsford reported that the fair market value of rentals ranged from approximately $850 for a one <br /> bedroom unit to $1400 for a three bedroom unit. W. Trebat questioned whether waiting lists existed <br /> for all programs and Iris. Botsford confirmed that there is a waiting list for each program but that two <br /> lists were closed, the one bedroom non elderly at Horneyer village and the one bedroom MRVP <br /> project based waiting list. Mr. Trebat asked about whether the greatest need was among Mashpee <br /> residents and Ms. Botsford confirmed that there was a need among residents but that it was not the <br /> majority of those in reed. lis. Botsford confirmed that Mashpee residents receive preference for <br /> affordable housing. <br /> FIs. Botsford suggested the Agency's greatest need for support will be with the expansion of Breezy <br /> Acres, which they plan to construct next year. In addition, the Housing Authority hopes to apply for <br /> funding from the Community Preservation Act in order to help finance a two or three bedroom home <br /> that could be purchased and rented as affordable. Mr. Abbott questioned whether properties acquired <br /> by the town would be managed by the Authority and lis. Botsford confirmed that, if hued, the <br /> Authority would manage the property. <br /> Breezy Acres Expansion <br /> Adrienne Danner, from the Housing Assistance Corporation, introduced herself as the project manager <br /> for the Breezy Acres expansion. Mr. Trebat noted that the Committee voted to support the petition for <br /> approval of the Breezy Acres expansion. The petition will be considered by the Zoning Board o <br /> Appeals at their meeting tomorrow might. Mr. Trebat questioned the stratus of the expansion easement <br /> request. lis. Danner responded that Mashpee could not grant the easement but ICAC is hopeful that <br /> the project could tie in with the high school's wastewater system, which would create a wiry-vein <br /> situation for the town and for HAC. The initial proposed operating costs to tie in to the high school's <br /> system were cost prohibitive to the project. Negotiations have been re-opened to consider the cost o <br /> tie-in to the high school's system. Mr. Trebat.indicated that an Affordable Housing Committee <br /> member would attend the ZBA meeting. Mr. Abbott questioned what would be discussed at the <br /> meeting in relation to the Breezy Acres expansion and Ms. Dwmer responded that they will be seeking <br /> a 40B Comprehensive Permit and will be presenting the project to the Zoning Board. Mr. Abbott <br /> volunteered to attend the meting,to support the request on behalf of the Affordable Housing <br /> Committee. <br /> Schooner Lane Affordable Housing Unit Status <br /> Karen Davis forwarded information to Mr. 'Trebat about a one bedroom condominium unit located on <br /> Schooner Dane that is facing foreclosure. Selectman Richardson reported that the home, in excellent <br /> condition and located in a nice neighborhood, recently become part of an estate that would be unable to <br /> maintain mortgage payments. The unit had been deeded as affordable housing but it is unclear <br /> whether a foreclosure eliminates the unit's standing as an affordable home. Selectman Richardson <br /> suggested that, should the Committee consider the unit viable, a letter should be seat to the Affordable <br /> Mousing Frust requesting a meeting, funds and action to retain the property.
