NEW BUSINESS: Mike Richardson handed out a draft of minutes from March 24, 2015 meeting. Mike Richardson stated it would be important to talk about the next action steps. Joan Peters- Gilmartin spoke about a lot of "talking" going on at meetings and it is time to "do" something. Gail Wilson spoke about the Barnstable County Regional Substance Abuse Council and they are in the process of developing a strategic plan based on the public health model. Barnstable County Human Services with Cheryl Bartlett is leading approximately 15 focus groups from various disciplines.The MOAPC first initiative is Scope of Pain which looks at the habits of prescribing doctors. Joan Peters-Gilmartin stated this is very big problem but this training is not mandatory for doctors. Mike Richardson stated we have to define the problem; look at demographics; programs; prevention; Gaps in services and treatment issues. Deb from DAs office stated there is a forum at Mashpee HS she is presenting on cyber bullying on Tuesday, May 5 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. The Sheriff's office will be bringing in drug sniffing dogs.
