AIDS Support Group will be opening an office in Falmouth probably in July, 2015. Randy Hunt presented <br /> a legislative update;there will be more enforcement of the Prescription Monitoring Program and there <br /> is legislation pending to prevent individuals under Section 35 from being sent to Framingham State <br /> Prison. <br /> Chief Collins spoke about possible legislation around expanding the laws regarding Protective custody, <br /> the police chiefs are asking that the law include individuals under the influence of narcotics. Also,there <br /> is discussion about the Narcan the infectible vs. the nasal dose and what is the cost.The Chief is <br /> speaking with Lori McCarthy with Gosnold about their services when there is an overdose and getting <br /> that individual into immediate treatment. <br /> Ms. Gil-Martin spoke about the Gloucester police chief and his program of allowing individuals to walk <br /> into the Gloucester Police Station hand over their drugs and get into treatment and they are funding <br /> that <br /> Chris Santos discussed a possible end of year assembly; suggest having Patty Mitrokoaskas speak to <br /> Sean Gilrain. Chris said he can help with this. <br /> Chris Santos asked the police and fire chiefs any concerns they have. The Chief spoke about the need <br /> for parental responsibility with their kids. In New Seabury and Pompenessett,there was a spike in out <br /> of control behavior two summers ago, burning a life guard chair and hopes there isn't any more <br /> vandalism. He has strengthened the patrols in specific areas. Mr. Santos asked the Chief what he <br /> thought about the safe "Craigslist areas"the Chief said he knows other town are doing this, Franks Hick <br /> Drive is an open way, individuals can pull in there and there is always a camera on. Kathy Mahoney <br /> stated this happens frequently in the library parking lot. <br /> Joyce Mason stated that there was big article in the Globe about the number of overdose deaths that <br /> have spiked in Plymouth, a year ago there were 196 overdoese and 10 died,this past year there have <br /> been 313 overdoses and 15 have died. Joan Gil-Martin asked about the policy of rescue responding <br /> along with police when there is an overdose. Tom Rullo stated any fireman that responds it is their <br /> obligation to call the police. The Police and Fire Chief spoke about their collaboration, speficially as it <br /> relates to overdose cases. <br /> Joan Gil-Martin suggested all the kids wear purple, make it cool for kids to wear purple. Tom Rullo <br /> suggested the fireman wear purple armbands. She suggested maybe having a concert of local musicians <br /> to promote a positive message. <br /> NEXT MEETING:The next meeting will be on Thursday,June 11, 2015 at 6:OOpm at Mashpee Town Hall. <br /> ADJOURNMENTAs there was no further business, Chris Santos made a motion that the meeting be <br /> adjourned.
