t fOti�W O <br /> 4��slrir��c'co•`� <br /> MASHPEE CARES COMMITTEE-PUBLIC SESSION <br /> September 17, 2015 <br /> 4:30pm <br /> Mashpee Town Hall-Waquoit Meeting Room <br /> Committee Members Present: Members Absent: Also Present: <br /> Scott Carline Leila Botsford Joe Marini <br /> Tom Rullo Lucy Burton Tom O'Hara <br /> Kathy Mahoney Bishop Munroe-Scott <br /> Gail Wilson Patty Mitrokostas <br /> Rodney Collins <br /> Hope Schwom <br /> Chris Santos <br /> Lynne Waterman <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chair Mike Richardson called the meeting to order at 4:40pm. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT-None <br /> REVIEW OF MINUTES: Motion made by Mike Richardson to approve the minutes from March 24, 2015, <br /> April, 28, 2015 and May, 21, 2015, Chris Santos seconded the motion. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Discussion about reorganization, Mike Richardson was voted the Chair, Chris Santos the Vice chair and <br /> Gail Wilson the Clerk. Mike Richardson spoke about his feeling that the mission is lacking, Michael Bihari <br /> who does a column in the Mashpee paper spoke at the Kiwanis Meeting, he did a survey in Falmouth <br /> and Mashpee, 54% had used alcohol, alcohol is the worst problem, and he stated we can't just focus on <br /> the heroin. Vermont, New Hampshire and Ma. leading states, Percocet 30 most popular pill, 70% are <br /> prescription users, 3 day supply of heroin is equal to one pill, he brought this to the attention of the <br /> Kiwanis. Mike R.wonders what we can do as a committee,try to come up with a statement we can <br /> stand behind. Lynne Waterman, reminded the group not to forget the senior population. <br /> Kathy Mahoney brought up how can we focus as a coalition, she feels like we are a support group, <br /> instead of talking about the problem she would like to focus on what is an event we can plan. Kathy <br /> stated there was some press in the newspaper, article in Enterprise in July, the community doesn't <br /> understand how we function and the webpage reflects that. Kathy suggests sponsoring trainings for <br /> first responders,what kind of safety net, resources. Hope Schwom stated she would like the Committee <br />
