MOAPC coordinator. The strategic prevention framework is based on a federally approved public health <br /> approach. The first strategy proposed by the MOAPC was the Scope of Pain campaign. The SAPC grant <br /> Substance Abuse Prevention Collaborative focuses on underage drinking. <br /> Beth suggested the Mashpee Cares mission statement may be too broad, need to focus on attainable <br /> action's,Jessica McHugh can be helpful in her awareness of what other MOAPC clusters are trying. <br /> Jessica said there are focuses on harm reduction when it comes to athletes, coaches, and parents. <br /> Chris Santos states it should be the goal of every school district, primary prevention model, and start in <br /> 6th grade go through middle and high school. Jessica stated the SKIRT is being used in the schools right <br /> now. <br /> The DA's office wonders if there is anything that we can put into the schools. Beth wonders if we need a <br /> survey instrument in the schools to look at youth risk behavior, discussed survey that was done back in <br /> 2011. Kathy Mahoney had copy of study stating the concerning grade was 101h grade. This was a <br /> Communities That Care survey. <br /> Falmouth received the drug free community grant, Falmouth Prevention Partnership, for 5 years looked <br /> at reducing risky behaviors. Jessica stated right now they are looking at harm reduction, overdose <br /> education,trainings and NARCAN, another important group are employers.The Cape campaign will align <br /> with the governor's public service campaign. <br /> Chris Santos states we need to break it down, focus on early stages, peers and making choices. Hope <br /> Schwom spoke about the tribe strategic plan and having someone facilitate a strategic planning process. <br /> Jessica asked the committee "what is stopping you from getting started? Beth spoke about some of the <br /> county's first initiatives, scope of pain,training physicians, faith based, drug take back day, to begin with <br /> an attainable goal. <br /> November 3, 2015 is the first meeting for the Prevention/Intervention group. Anyone from this <br /> committee is welcome to attend. <br /> Jessica McHugh discussed her role as the MOAPC coordinator and her ability to provide support and <br /> assistance to town coalitions. She will be able to attend the monthly Mashpee Cares meetings. <br /> Gail Wilson suggested that each member of the group come up with 3 activities to focus on for the next <br /> meeting. Mike Richardson made the motion, Chris Santos seconded the motion. Kathy Mahoney said <br /> members can email them to her.
