• Zella also provided copies of this cornrnittee's brochure to the Selectmen. The purpose <br /> of the brochure is to educate Mashpee residents of the services available to them in <br /> regards to affordable housing. <br /> • Zella will not attend the next CPA meeting for applicants, however, anyone from this <br /> committee can if they wish to. The date of that meeting will be made available via <br /> email. <br /> • Zella extended an invitation from the ZA for as many liashpee Residents- as <br /> possible including this co nee's members attend the ZBA's next public meeting on <br /> July 13 at l: o as they will be discussing the Joe's Fishing project. This is a very lame <br /> prof ect with about 385 units and lots of density. Marty mentioned that there was an <br /> open forum for 1 lashpee residents at the parish center a month ago. He said they <br /> hoped to expand on the senior housing as well as add an elevator to the exciting <br /> housing as a lot of the second floor units remain vacant because of accessibility. He <br /> added that they planned to build senior townhouses, also known as granny flats, <br /> which are small units. These units would be close to shopping and the health center <br /> eliminating the need for a car. Denise will try to obtain copies of this project for <br /> CO ttee members from the ZA Chairman. <br /> E.A. Fish and Associates have requested a meeting with this co ttee regarding the <br /> Housing Authority's request for proposal to develop senior housing on their parcel o <br /> land at the domer of Rte 28 and sher's Path. The proposal calls for the construction <br /> of 56 rental units for qualified 55 and older tenants. They are to meet with the Zoning <br /> Board of Appeals on July 12 and wish to meet with this co ttee prior.An invitation <br /> has been extended to them for our July I I meeting. we are waiting for a reply. There <br /> was a brief discuss regarding the density of this project. It was speculated that the <br /> properly was about two to three acres. Zella is concerned with density as is Cynthia. <br /> Deborah Battles commented that it looks like a good plan. It should be noted that this <br /> group had meet with the-Town Planner last year regarding this project. <br /> • Juliette Silva addressed the group regarding the vacant seat on the committee. She is <br /> very interested, but concerned because, she sloes not have a lot of knowledge of <br /> affordable housing. She has, however, done some volunteer work in the past for an <br /> inner-city mission. Marty said that all you need is interest, which everyone agreed. <br /> Cynthia further stated on behalf of Ms. Silva, that she is a very mterested and a <br /> hardworker. A few things were briefly explained to Ms. Silva regarding grants, low <br /> and moderate income, some of the projects before this co ttee as well as what a <br /> LIP is, the Affordable Town flan, and the study done last year.' Charlotte Carron <br /> motioned for Julliette Silva to join the Affordable Housing Corn nittee, Marty Henry <br /> seconded. The board voted unanimously for I . Silva. <br /> OTHER <br /> Charlotte is still tying to work out the deed for The Lowell./Bamstable Road land. <br /> Coordinator of the Cape Cod Commission beliefs the land to be Conservation. He has <br /> some concerns. Mr. Sobel feels this is a good location and would suit the area. Marty <br /> would like to see apartments for low and moderate units. <br /> All agreed it would be beneficial for the Woodridge's to speak before the committee <br /> regarding avisitability. <br />
