Board of Assessors Meeting Page New Assessing Department Li for - Jose2h Polito Chairman Porten informed that Mr. Polito started his new position just today. Both he and M ` . Greig spoke with him for a short time. Mr. Porter expressed opinion that Mr . Polito seems sharp - knows what he is doing . All expressed agreement that Mr. Polito seems quite interested in his new position. David Bailey informed that Mr . Polito did spend a good deal of time with hire today; he knows a good deal about construct-.on but not much about appraising . He explained that when he learns the basics of appraising-, he will find it most helpful in discriminating what information is important and unimportant. Upon suggestion from Mr. Greig, Mr. Bailey agreed that Mr . Polito should have some schooling sometime this summer. Lengthy discussion followed. David Bailey informed that for the first week or two. ' the Liston will familiarize himself with the new computer system.- next ystem;next week he and Mr. Bailey will probably go out and look at some of the sales properties and take photos . His big project over the summed' will be to verify the construction cost tables ; he has just the background for this project and has a close working- relationship with many of the local builders . [upon question from vice Chairma.n DeLory and' Chairman Porter, Mr. Bailey expressed opinion that Mr . Polito will probably have some worthwhile schooling around August - not just "rinky- dink" courses . Assessing e art ent Counter David Bailey informed that- he had further discussions on the ratter; the final advice was not to use lateral files 'in that area because of the inadequate space; the project is on hold. Discussion followed concerning a sideways filing system. NEW BUSINESS : .U2co in . Seminars on Casae God This Summer Chairman Porter introduced discussion. David Bailey and most of the Hoard Members expressed opinion that they are quite costly. No decision was made about attending.
