Lengthy discussion followed. <br /> Leslie Greig made motion The Board accept The Minutes of The <br /> Meeting of May 1 , 1994 as printed and as corrected; Robert <br /> DeLory made second the motion; motion passed; unanimous decision. <br /> The Board accepted The Minutes as printed and as corrected. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Delinquent Personal Property Taxes <br /> Chairman Porter informed that David Bailey has researched <br /> and found a law concerning what methods The Town can use to <br /> induce payment of delinquent taxes . Mr. Bailey is in the process <br /> of completing a letter concerning the matter, and Board Members <br /> have spent considerable time reviewing the lengthy list of <br /> delinquent taxpayers - total of * uncollectable taxes is about <br /> $100 , 000 . The Board is disturbed; Board Members .do not feel that. . <br /> all methods have been exhausted to collect this money. The Board <br /> is trying to come up with a system that would be cost effective <br /> in collecting these unpaid taxes . <br /> Chairman Porter further informed that David Bailey has found <br /> that licenses and permits can be withheld as well as dump and <br /> beach stickers . <br /> Leslie Greig informed that about $boo in uncollectabl.e taxes <br /> is owed by the owner of the Mashpee service station , which is a <br /> char of many service stations. Lengthy discussion followed. <br /> David Bailey expressed opinion that Assessing should not be <br /> put in the position of finding methods to collect taxes ; this is <br /> .the job of the Tax collector . Leslie Greig expressed opinion <br /> that the Tax collector needs some assistance from Mashpee as a <br /> whole - perhaps from the Board of Selectmen . Lengthy discussion <br /> followed concerning various major accounts that are delinquent. <br /> Chairman Porter stated that The Board now has pertinent data <br /> from David Bailey, the lengthy list of uncollectable taxes , and a <br /> method to pursue that might prove helpful to the Town of Mashpee. <br />
