Board of Assessors Meeting Page <br /> NEW/OLD BUSINESS: <br /> New Data Col.l.ector t Salary - a Problem <br /> David Bailey informed The Board that Personnel had <br /> advertised the yearly salary incorrectly for the position of Data <br /> Collector - based .on a 40 hour week rather than 37 .5 hours . The <br /> hourly rate was advertised correctly. only a few people were <br /> aware of the problem. He spoke with Personnel and suggested Mr. <br /> Polito be hired at step 2 instead of step 1 . Personnel stated <br /> this would cause internal problems. Mr . Bailey, as a last <br /> choice, spoke with Mr. Polito; he accepted the correct yearly <br /> salary and did not grant to rake an issue. Mr. Bailey stated that <br /> he would have stood behind hire had the is-sue remained a problem. <br /> Chairman Porter asked wiry a 37 . 5 hour week; Mr . Bailey <br /> stated that one half hour dally is deducted for lunch. Mr. <br /> Porter asked when Mr . Polito would be eligible for a raise. Mr. <br /> Bailey stated July l of this year, but the" raise would not be' <br /> very large. <br /> Leslie Greig strongly recommended that David Bailey quickly <br /> initiate talks with the Personnel Board in regard to upgrading <br /> the data collector ' s salary - an issue long talked about but <br /> never resolved. Mr, Greig expressed opinion that this problem <br /> with the data collector ' s yearly salary being incorrectly <br /> advertised is the problem of Personnel - it placed the ad ! <br /> Lengthy discussion followed. <br /> Vacation Time <br /> David Bailey informed The Board that he and Ms . Susan Collum <br /> will. be taking vacation time. He has not been able to schedule <br /> his own time because of the tax bill. deadline. He will try to <br /> take this Friday, next Friday and next Monday . Ms . Collum does <br /> have fire days that we are now trying to arrange. Board Members <br /> agreed that both Mr. Hadley and Ms . Collum deserve to take some <br /> time as soon as can be arranged. Side discussions followed in <br /> regard to sick days . <br /> Commercial Personal Property <br /> David Bailey recommended that The Board of Assessors should <br /> schedule a meeting with Ms . Penne Shaw upon her return to resolve <br /> this issue. Lengthy discussion and side discussions followed. <br /> Leslie Greig suggested that - The Board wait to see what the Board <br /> of Selectmen will recommend.. <br />
