Mr. Greig was of the opinion that Ms . Shaw can do no' more;
demands and warrants have been issued. Mr. Bailey was of the
opinion that Nis . Shaw probably will distribute the list as simply
worthwhile information supplied by the Assessing Departmexit.
Chairman Porter informed that Ms . Shaw had indicated to him
that she would life some information compiled to use as a weapon
to collect these delinquent taxes . Lengthy discussion followed.
Leslie Greig informed that the law states that the Board of
Assessors simply abates on the Tax Collector ' s ','say so" the
Assessors do not sign under "penalties of perjury" regarding
uncollected taxes the Tac Collector does . Side discussions
followed,
Chairman Porter stated that he feels this has been a Sob
well done by Board Members The Board has something that is
concrete and worthwhile .
[ coming ATB Cases
David Bailey informed that he is in process of getting ready
for ATB Cases . There are only about 12 cases .
United Church villa e is the biggest case. They have
been reluctant to- provide us with information we seat out
.interrogatories last week. Lengthy discussion followed. Leslie
Greig stated the name sounds too much like a charitable
organization. Mr. Bailey was of opinion the name had been
changed to Niashpee Village . David Bailey informed that the case
should be open and shut . • . it changed hands in December- for
3 . 4 Killion the assessment was 4 . 5 Million it will be
hard to justify that this was a straight sale he expressed
opinion that if it was a straight sale, Assessing would have the
information by this time.
Chairman Porter questioned sales of residential
properties . David Bailey was of opinion about one half of these
. sales were through foreclosures or very low prices . Lengthy
discussion followed. Mr. Bailey stated that most .of these small
uses will not to to ATB • , . perhaps some of the iaushop may go
to ATB; one waterfront, one non-waterfront owned by the sane
person . Also, one waterfront property, 11 acres on oc way Bay.
More lengthy side discussions followed.
