i <br /> Board of Assessors Meeting Page 2 <br /> New Seabury Land Parcels - Assessments (continued) <br /> Leslie Greig initiated lengthy discussion; he expressed <br /> opinion that any of these parcels can be turned over to the Town <br /> in lieu of taxes , but he is unfamiliar with the method used to <br /> clear this type of property transfer with the D.O.R. <br /> Map 126 , Parcel I , Mr. Greig made suggestion that <br /> David Bailey write a letter and Chairman Porter or vice Chairman <br /> DeLory sign it before next Tuesday, the meeting date scheduled <br /> for discussion of this issue . Mr . Greig informed that he will be <br /> out of town on that date. He stated that the history of the <br /> subject lot is ATPD- the lot is assessed for $4 , 300 ; he questioned <br /> why the Owner warts $40 , 000 . <br /> Chairman Porter expressed opinion that a letter <br /> should be prepared and which should include as The Board ' <br /> statement the comments that Leslie Greig has made. <br /> J <br /> Vice Chairman DeLory stated that he does net wish <br /> to become involved; he expressed opinion the issue has nothing to <br /> do with Assessing. Mr. Greig pointed out that Board Members do <br /> not have to do anytha.ng a letter will accomplish The <br /> Board ' s goal . Mr. Porter expressed agreement . <br /> Mr. DeLory made comment that the matter should be <br /> discussed in executive session of the upcoming meeting 41P . but , <br /> the meeting agenda would schedule it as one of the final. items <br /> and very probably would be taken up quite late in the evening . i <br /> Leslie Greig stated that The Board agrees the best <br /> way to handle this matter Is to have David Bailey send a letter . <br /> Assesin De artrent ' s Financial Statement <br /> Chairman Porter informed that Board Members have <br /> signed the Financial Statement. vice Chairman DeLory checked the <br /> information with the lie-cap; all numbers appeared to correspond. <br /> Appeals for Personal. Property Tax Abatements <br /> Chairman Porter stated that Board Members have been <br /> working on these Personal Property Abatement Applications and <br /> will finalize decisions; a list of abatement denials and/or <br /> abatements granted will be prepared and read into The Record <br /> during the next scheduled Board Meeting. <br />
