Board of Assessors Meeting Page <br /> Mashpee Workshop Agenda continued <br /> Leslie Greig questioned if the Cape Cod Commission is <br /> involved in this issue. Chairman porter informed that it is not; <br /> it involves only the Town of Mashpee. Mr. Greig expressed <br /> opinion that if the Cape Cod commission is included, perhaps <br /> Mashpee could finally obtain an economic impact study on the Fish <br /> and Wildlife Corridor, Mr. Porter stated that the study is <br /> proposed in another project. David Bailey expressed agreement; <br /> and he expressed agreement that the Commission should be liooking <br /> at ways to exploit it economically . More discussion followed. <br /> Vice Chairman DeLory stated that he had read a newspaper <br /> article several weeks ago on what the Cape Cod Commission felt It <br /> could do economically for Mashpee. David Bailey and Board <br /> Member's stated they are familiar with the suggestions , and they <br /> all expressed agreement. side discussions followed. <br /> Leslie Greig pointed out there are 2 , 600 senior citizens in <br /> Mashpee , David Bailey pointed out that if the young. families i n <br /> Mashpee advocate attractions for a retirement resort, the <br /> additional tax dollars could be applied to acquiring expensive <br /> programs for thein children if they do not do this <br /> initially , Mashpee will become overcrowded with young families . <br /> Chairman Porter stated that today, many families are moving back <br /> to the cities because they cannot afford the expensive projects <br /> of suburbia. All expressed agreement. <br /> Reorganization of officers of Board of Assessors <br /> Chairman Porter announced that he was re-elected as an <br /> Assessor and sworn in today. Also, this Board Meeting is the <br /> last he will chair he now turns it over to Robert DeLory, <br /> after the formal vote. Mr. Porter stated that he enjoyed being <br /> Chairman of the Board this past year it was a new <br /> experience for him. He thanked everyone for their cooperation . <br /> Leslie Greig made motion that Robert DeLory be Chairman of <br /> the Board; Kenneth Porter rude second the motion; motion passed; <br /> Mr. DeLory accepted; unanimous decision, <br /> Robert DeLory made motion that Leslie Greig be Vice Chairman <br /> of the Board; Kenneth Porter made second the motion*ky <br /> motion <br /> passed; Leslie Greig accepted; unanimous decision. <br /> Kenneth Foxier became Clerk of the Board. Reorganization of <br /> Officers of the Board of Assessors was completed. <br />
