Chairman Greig further informed <br /> that he has discovered some interesting information. As a <br /> resident of his village in New Seabury, he is obliged to pay for <br /> goad maintenance; yet, the condominiums are not included, and the <br /> residents there do not pay for this cost even though they use the <br /> same roads as Mr. Greig. He made comment that everyone uses his <br /> road to travel to the Golf Club; yet, he must pay the cost of <br /> re-surfacing even though he does not go to the GolfClub.' ! <br /> David Bailey stated that he would like t have the <br /> Personal. Property Tax eliminated. Lengthy discussion followed. <br /> Marcia King informed that when she first received a Personal <br /> Property Tax Bill , she had no idea what it was , She questioned <br /> her accountant about it . . . he advised her to "just pay i t" a, 01 <br /> Ms . ding expressed opinion that because she is already pays-ng <br /> Real. Property Taxes , she should not have to day additional taxes <br /> for property that is in her second home, Mr. Bailey informed that <br /> most people do pay it, then six months later they complain to <br /> Assessing. At that point, it is too late to do -an thing about <br /> it! <br /> David Bailey expressed opinion that the Personal. <br /> Property Tax has got to be the most unpopular tax in this State. <br /> Be informed that Assessing Departments have been - working for <br /> years with the Assessors ' Association to have this tax <br /> eliminated. Chairman Greig pointed out that this tax is only <br /> fair for commercial. establishments . Mr. Bailey informed that he <br /> fought extremely hard last year at the State level to try to <br /> eliminate this tax or call it something else to make it more <br /> fair. <br /> Chairman Greig informed that The Town has been working- <br /> on <br /> or in .on obtaining a grant for Personal Property Taxes as well as for <br /> R'eal Property Taxes that are in arrears. Marcia King initiated <br /> lengthy discussion concerning various lists of Mashpee Taxpayers <br /> who are in arrears with their property tax payments . David <br /> Bailey stated that when he worked in various towns in Vermont, <br /> they all used to print the delinquent taxes in their annual <br /> reports . <br /> Schooling for Assessors <br /> David Bailey asked Marcia King if she would be <br /> attending University of Massachusetts this summer. Ms . Kind <br /> informed - she would not be attending; she explained that she is <br />
