Board of Assessors meeting Page <br /> Minutes of The Meeting of June 11 , 1996 continued <br /> The Internet (continued) <br /> David Bailey further informed that Assessing ' s <br /> information on the Internet is simply an experlment at present to <br /> see if people are viewing it. If this works out favorably, he <br /> will submit Assessing ' s major file data for a cost quote. Mr. <br /> Bailey is contacting Town Counsel for advice on having the cost <br /> of data on the Internet paid for by others instead of by The <br /> Town, He expressed feeling that the information will not be used <br /> by the general public. Although he wants Assessing' s data to be <br /> available on the Internet, he feels the "pay per call." by Users <br /> will not work out. Board Members expressed -agreement. <br /> David Bailey pointed out that the more elaborate the <br /> data is on the Internet, the higher the cost will be . • . as <br /> example, sketches of residences are quite memory intensive. He <br /> suggested that advertising by private firms , such as a bank' s <br /> logo, real estate companies , or the like* may absorb the cost <br /> Is . if legal. a asked Board Members for their opinions on <br /> this matter. <br /> Marcia King expressed opinion that using advertising to ` <br /> defray the cost of placing Assessing ' s information on the <br /> Internet is a wonderful idea, and would probably be beneficial t <br /> local private firms as well ; however, obtaining a legal opinion <br /> to do so would be a priority . She made suggestion that bias for <br /> advertising be obtained from select private firms . David Badley <br /> expressed agreement. More discussion followed. <br /> David Badley informed that he will definitely pursue <br /> this matter and will keep The Board informed of its progress . <br /> Vice Chairman Porter again referred to The Minutes o <br /> The Meeting of June 11 , 1996 Page 5 ,. Propert values <br /> Affected by the Otis Plume . He questioned David Bailey about the <br /> status of this matter. Mr . Bailey informed that he did submit a <br /> letter to -Ms. Clancy Caffyn which briefly outlined his findings, <br /> and he did have a discussion with her as well . his . cayn <br /> requested he write a letter to the Task Force that is doing the <br /> litigation there is a public comment period which ends <br /> tomorrow. Mr. Bailey did write the letter, he stated that a <br /> problem seems to exist and suggested a study be done to find out <br /> how much lost equity there has been in Mashpee and a plan be <br /> presented to resolve the - matter. As part of the public comment <br /> period, the Task Force is obligated to rely to any letters <br /> received in this regard within a certain time frame. Shoat <br /> discussion followed. <br />
