Discussion (continued) <br /> Marcia ding expressed feeling that a cablevision <br /> program to include the knowledge of Chairman Greig and Vice <br /> Chairman Porter, with David Bailey as host, is a fabulous idea. <br /> Chairman Greig pointed out that people, in general , have no idea <br /> f the many phases of the assessment process . He intends to <br /> start working on this project. Mir. Badley said he will get some <br /> samples from the 1AAO . 0 0It produces quality manuals and <br /> videos . He will contact the MAAO as well for data. <br /> Marcia ding informed that the Town Hall renovation <br /> includes wiring for sound and live cable; she suggested a Board <br /> Meeting that includes abatement hearing-s be held live. David <br /> Bailey made comment that it would be interesting to viewers; many <br /> people do not apply for abatements because they feel it is too <br /> difficult; Board Members expressed agreement. Mr, Bailey also <br /> pointed out that newspaper articles in the past have proven t <br /> ease the concerns of Taxpayers when dealing with the Assessing <br /> Department. dice Chairman Porter made comment that Many people <br /> had told him they had great fear of the Assessing Department, <br /> All expressed agreement that there has been a splendid changeover <br /> in the Assessing Department ' s attitude during the past few years <br /> l Staff has been dealing with the public , <br /> when the Clerical g <br /> Chairman Greig initiated lengthy discussion concerning <br /> property -rec Mrd cards; 'he feels they are not being updated by <br /> Owners. David Bailey informed that Assessing noes send out a <br /> simple questionnaire alone with the sales verification form, but <br /> many times the answers are incorrect especially concerning <br /> finished basements, In regard to square footage , Assessing has <br /> been visiting and reasuring many hones . Vice Chairman Porter <br /> informed that almost every house has been photographed. David <br /> Bailey agreed that Assessing should work on a better public <br /> relations program. <br /> 40-Hour Work Week for Mashpee Employees - Union Contract <br /> Marcia King introduced lengthy discussion concerning <br /> this issue; she pointed out that three Assessing Department <br /> Employees have been affected by the new 40-hour work week for all <br /> employees . David Bailey explained that the Union is saying no <br /> employees have been hurt by this change in contract. He and Susan <br /> Collura have been salaried employees and work a 40-hour week, 8 : 30 <br /> a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. , with no overtime compensation; yet Steve, the <br /> Leistor, works the same hours but is paid only for 37 . 5 hours . . . <br />
