Board of Assessors Meeting Page 2 <br /> Review of Prospective Assessment Changes for Fl 9 9 <br /> (continued) <br /> has a view, and the value was quite low (about $110 , 000 when <br /> nearby lots were $140 , Mr. Porter made comment he had <br /> lobbied for this particular increase several years ago. <br /> Vice Chairman Porten questioned what Is being done <br /> about assessments in this area when houses are sola significantly <br /> higher than their values . David Bailey explained that he has <br /> been trying to, get the median closer to 9 . . as we <br /> increased the land value by 10 or so, the median was brought up. <br /> ***Marcia King arrived* <br /> David Bailey further explained that there were only two <br /> P3 sales * • . one was high at $105, 000 one was low at <br /> $8 , O 0 . The P4s started out with an 83 and increased to around <br /> 91 . The P.5s were not that bad. . <br /> Tax bate Preparation - Update r David Bai.l.ey <br /> -Mr. Bailey informed that the Growth is at the D.O.R. s <br /> well as the L 4 data . Upon questions from Leslie Greig and <br /> Kenneth Porter, David Bailey stated that this year ' s Growth <br /> figure is 45-6 , 000 . . . last year it was 389 , 000 . He explained <br /> that Line H of the Growth is the L . <br /> Mr. Bailey also informed that everything should be fine <br /> for the Classification Hearing on or about the 25th it i <br /> just a ratter of what time and place is convenient . for all . The <br /> Board of Selectmen does not have a meeting that week, so a <br /> special meeting will have to be scheduled. The Grater DI.strict <br /> has an upcoming' meeting next week; Mr. Bailey has offered to do <br /> Its Classiciation Hearing at that time rather than drag the Board <br /> Members into a special Selectmen ' s meeting . He explained that <br /> this Hearing' is about whether the Tax Rate should be split to <br /> give a higher rate to Commercial Properties . Capon question from <br /> Marcia -King, David Bailey informed that a Split Tax Rate will not <br /> happen Assessing would have been previously informed; the <br /> hearing will be very short. <br /> Chairman Greig initiated discussion about preparing a <br /> handout for the benefit of the two new Selectmen. Mr. Bailey <br /> pointed out. that he prepares a handout every year; his intention <br /> is to get together informally with the new Selectmen to prepare <br /> thea for the simple ritual of the Classification Hearing, and to <br /> spare thea the disappointment of not having i a lengthy agenda o <br /> items to act upon. <br />
