David Bailey expressed strong opinion that it <br /> should be made simple enough so that people will understand it <br /> and actually use it. Marcla King suggested using a data base <br /> method to extract pertinent information. Mr. Bailey agreed <br /> e could create a simplified version of the property record card <br /> without the sketch it could be mailed to the Property <br /> Owner with request for verification. Discussion followed. . Vice <br /> Chairman Porter suggested raking a list of to most important <br /> items Mr. Bailey and Board Members expressed agreement. <br /> Chairman Greig pointed out that it is physically <br /> impossible for Assessing to go out and inspect every property. <br />' Using a simplified property record card, a Property owner can <br /> tell Assessing what data is incorrect; then Assessing can go out <br /> and inspect. Mr. Badley suggested that Assessing prepare and <br /> mail data to Zoo - 300 properties , request each Property owner to <br /> verify the data, then see what happens . . Ms , King referenced <br /> various data base programs she pointed out all that is <br /> needed is a query to get in and out, Mr. Bailey informed tha t <br /> Sid, the computer person, did a super job in preparing the name <br /> and address data for Assessing . . . perhaps he could do the same <br /> with a simplified property record card. Mr. Greig initiated <br /> lengthy discussion regarding various software packages. <br /> New Filing System for Assessin <br /> David Bailey informed that the request for a new filing <br /> system has been withdrawnhe perceived that there was no <br /> chance Assessing was going to be funded for this item. The old <br /> files will be stored in the cellar; the current files will remain <br /> in the Assessing Department . . . this procedure may or may not <br /> work out. Chairman Greig made comment that it was a wrong <br /> decision; Vice Chairman Porter made comment that the Board was <br /> counting on a new filing system. Mr, Bailey informed that he is <br /> holding the request for next year. He explained that requests <br /> from other departments total a great deal of money. However, he <br /> did request that the Town look into purchasing a. record file <br /> stet one CD ROM will store documents from a multitude o <br /> filing cabinets.
