t
Board of Assessors Meeting Page
Mapes, (continued)
free items , but over $loo K may have to be spent to obtain the
basic information; to add the Assessing data to this could cost
another $200 K. Mr. Bailey also learned that there is a great
deal of support from many municipal departments for this project
. to his surprise. Funding will be the issue. The prospect
of doing it over a number of years and using the overlay surplus
for it was brought up • . busying it as can be afforded. David
Bailey informed that the basic information will be digitized; it
will be very helpful to many departments , although not especially
to Assessing. He expressed opinion that Assessing should
purchase information as needed . 0 , over a number of years.
Lengthy side discussions followed.
General Discussion on Another Employee in Assessift
Marcia Ding introduced the issue; she questioned the
progress of an additional. position. Mr. Bailey stated he wants
to see how things progress in the Department . . . e does not
want to have another employee if he does not think it is
necessary. He pointed out that now is a- busy time with the
abatements , and today Steve was out sic} . Leslie Greig expressed
opinion that it would be difficult for Assessing to suddenly have
to replace Denise in the future and train that person; we would
need a person who is already trained for the position. David
Bailey stated that before a final decision is made, he sees no
M reason why specifics should not be discussed as to what the
additional -time person would be doing. Discussion followed.
Assessing ' s Scheduled Move to Town Mall
David Bailey informed that Thursday, January 30 , i,s the
scheduled date for the Assessing Department ' s move to its new
offices in Mashpee Town .Hall. .
Board of Assessors Meeting Schedule
The next Regular Board Meeting is scheduled to take
place on Tuesday, February 11 , 1996 , at 6 :00 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before The Board :dor
discussion, Marcia King made motion The Board adjourn the
meeting; Kenneth Porter made second the motion; motion passed;
unanimous decision.
